Benny's Birthday is an Illumination short film. It was released first on August 6 with Despicable Me 4 on digital.
Plot[]
Benny wakes up seeing that it’s February 8, meaning that it’s his birthday. But he’s not in the mood and shuns it, until the Minions wake him up saying "happy birthday!", Benny sees that the whole place is in a birthday party style. The Minions take him to his cake with one of them giving Benny a crown while another gives him a present that sprayed confetti on his face, he’s then hit by darts when Tony is blowing a balloon, and gets hit by a bat that Hal is doing pinata. Hal hits a fireworks box with one flying into the cake replacing the original regular candle, Benny tries to blow it but it explodes the cake, it went everywhere.
The alarm sounds and Benny wakes up, only to find out that it’s his birthday again, much to his dismay. The Minions wake him up again with the same, Benny gets hit again by the darts, until Hal swings the bat and Benny avoids it by grabbing into the piñata, but the pipe falls and hits Benny.
Benny has a time loop of being hurt on his birthday. Benny is hurt and injured by so many stuff: falling down between a rocket, being hurt by darts, he is hurt by Hal with a bat, hurt by a bat again, Kyle giving the TNT to him, making the TNT thrown with a bat, and finally throwing down the present with the TNT. Benny wakes up feeling anxious, he then has an idea for blowing away the firework candle, Benny jumps off his bed, grabs the crown and the present, he holds the present to be in the darts trying to avoid it, Benny jumps and opens the present to open the piñata releasing candy from it, he also grabs tony to blow the TNT off as he falls, Benny is relieved until a Minion holds Benny and he hits the cake.
Benny hears the alarm, but as he wakes up he finds the time loop is over, Benny celebrates with his friends as they hold him up happily. In the credits, there are pictures of Tony, Kyle, Hal, Will, and Benny.

- It's possible this is a short from the Despicable Me franchise rather than it being an original short and as such may include the Minions doing their usual mayhem again, possibly ruining Benny's birthday during the process.
- This has been confirmed as a bonus feature according to a leaked "press release".[1]
- The sleeping pods from Despicable Me 3 return.
- The one eyed DJ minion from the first two films also returns.
