Despicable Me: The Game (known as Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem for Nintendo DS version) is a platform video game developed by Vicious Cycle Software and published by D3Publisher.[1] The game runs on Vicious Engine 2. It is a prequel/video game adaption to the film of the same name.
The game focuses on Gru's adventures before he met and adopted Margo, Edith, and Agnes and his first battle with Vector. Steve Carell and Rob Huebel are the only actors who reprise their roles from the movie, while Pierre Coffin, Jason Segel and Russell Brand are replaced by James Arnold Taylor, Jason Harris Katz and JB Blanc, respectively.
Cast[]
- Steve Carell as Felonius Gru
- Rob Huebel as the MSNBC Anchorman
- JB Blanc as Dr. Nefario
- Jason Harris Katz as Vector and Fred McDade (deleted only)
- James Arnold Taylor as the Minions
Trivia[]
- Pierre Coffin, Jason Segel and Russell Brand were unable to reprise their respective roles as the Minions, Vector and Dr. Nefario. Their characters are both voiced by James Arnold Taylor, Jason Harris Katz and JB Blanc.
- The girls Margo Gru, Edith Gru, and Agnes Gru are absent in the video game.
- Jason Harris Katz was going to replace Danny McBride as the voice of Fred McDade, but his scenes were cut.
- At the end of the video game, Gru mentions that he needs a little help with his next heist, foreshadowing the events of Despicable Me, when he hires the girls to help him steal The Moon.
- The PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows versions were planned, but they were never released due to low sales for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and limited resources for Windows.
- The European age rating is rated PEGI 12, despite not being any more violent than its source material.
Goofs[]
- Despite voicing the respective roles of the Minions, Vector, and Dr. Nefario from the game, James Arnold Taylor, Jason Harris Katz, and J.B. Blanc are uncredited from the game.
