  • Gru Jr. shares some genetic traits from both Gru and Lucy, such as his pointy nose, his blue eyes, and his red hair.
  • He resembles Theodore, the titular main protagonist of The Boss Baby franchise (even switching emotion the same way Theodore does).
    • He also resembles Jack-Jack from Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles.
      • He was strongly disliked, and some fans say that he doesn't make sense, due to Lucy not being shown to be pregnant with him. Some fans also say that he is copied by several animated babies like Jack-Jack Parr (The Incredibles) and Roshan (Ice Age), criticizing him for not making sense within the franchise's timeline and accredited to the Gru family.
