The Golden Shield was an item in Minion Rush. It beared the same appearance as the Minion Shield, except that it had a golden coloring. Unlike other items, this item was not given in a goal by Dr. Nefario to be purchased. Instead, to purchase it, one paid 1,200 Tokens. Afterwards, it spawned randomly during runs, replacing the original Minion Shield.
Unlike the Minion Shield, which protects the player's Minion for up to one hit for a limited time, if the player's Minion collected the Golden Shield, they were surrounded with a shield that was indestructible for a limited time. Therefore, the player's Minion was invincible (except falling into void) and could not fail any run by hitting an obstacle if the shield was active. The Golden Shield was an additional ability of the Minion Shield, so the upgrades of the Minion Shield applied to it. The original PX-41 Serum was very similar to this item, as the player could not be hit by any obstacle. However, unlike the Golden Shield. it could only be activated once during runs.
The Golden Shield, along with the Golden Banana, is no longer available since the version 6.1.0 for iOS and Android platforms, but is still there for older versions of the game playable in other platforms. An equivalent to the golden shield for version 6.1.0 and onward, is Ninja and Couturier Stuart costume's new ability. Although it looks like the silver shield, the protection around the minion can't break when hitting an obstacle.
