Plot[]
Despicable Me[]
When Gru comes home from the coffee shop, Fred stops watering his plants and chats with Gru. Gru complains about Fred's dog doing its business on the former's yard, which Fred laughs off until Gru humorously suggests that he killed Fred's dog.
He is later seen scrubbing and polishing down his car and looks up as Gru takes off in his rocket. Fred is then handed the Squid Launcher by Vector as the latter grapples on to Gru's rocket.
Despicable Me 2[]
Fred attends Agnes' birthday party. Later in the day, Gru sends Kyle to Fred's house to urinate, since the former supervillain doesn't want Kyle destroying his petunias. Later on, Fred attends Gru and Lucy's wedding. He is shown standing next to Natalie and whispering her something. During the wedding dance, he attempts to woo Shannon by dancing, though he loses to a more illustrious man.
Despicable Me 4[]
Fred appears in a short cameo at the end seen peering over Gru’s fence and dancing to the music playing in Gru’s backyard.
Personality[]
Fred appears to be a seemingly normal and cheerful man, and also seems to care a lot about taking care of his property (he is seen both times in the flims watering his plants and washing his car). He also appears to like to joke around with Gru, who simply resents Fred.

Trivia[]
- Despite his actor's name appearing in the opening credits, he was originally going to have a major part in the first film's climax when he rushes in the nick of time with Dr. Nefario to save Gru from Vector and dances in the final scene of the movie. These scenes were later removed, thus confining Fred's role as a minor supporting character.
- Fred's dog (who Gru suggests is dead) is believed to make up the "dog binoculars" (a pair of binoculars that looks like it is the eyes of the dog) that Gru uses as part of his disguise while trying to get into Vector's Fortress. It is possible that Gru actually killed Fred's dog and made it into a pair of binoculars.
- Fred's license plate number is Z81D-A0.
- Fred might be inspired by Ned Flanders from The Simpsons. Both characters are friendly neighbors of the main protagnoists, who are less friendly and have an extreme disliking of their neighbors. They also share a physical resemblance, and have rhyming first names.
- In Despicable Me 4, a person besides Fred is seen watering bushes in his front yard, it is unclear who this person is.
