— Otto says trying to get the Zodiac Stone
|
Otto is a Minion who first appeared in Minions: The Rise of Gru. It was confirmed on the website that he will return in Despicable Me 4.
Appearance[]
Otto looks like Jerry, but he is a bit more rounder, taller, and chubbier. He also has twelve sprouts of hair, as well as having braces. He also has a bigger weight size than all the other minions.
Plot[]
Minions: The Rise of Gru[]
Otto first appears in the scene where Gru checks on his evil lair's progress when he tries to comfort him since he hasn't be accepted into the Vicious 6, though he blabbers so much that Gru distracts him into playing the Quiet Game. Later he appears when Kevin, Stuart, & Bob attempt to go after Gru, who's on his way to his interview with the Vicious 6, being distracted by Kevin into playing Hide-and-Seek. He finds them eventually at Criminal Records. He rides on Gru's jet bike along with the rest of the Minions, but tumbles from it after accidentally driving into a staircase. He gets his hands on the Zodiac Stone, which Gru entrusted him to return it to his lair.
Otto grows attached on the way that he gets stuck on one of the laces & falls face first in some concrete. He tries pulling the stone out, but it ends up flying in the air. He catches it eventually & lands at the birthday party where a pet stone is being traded, due to being fascinated into it, Otto trades the stone for the pet rock, leading to the Minions being fired. The next day, Kevin, Stuart & Bob attempt to get answers from him about the stone's whereabouts, & confesses to whom he traded the stone to. While outside, he then sees someone wearing the stone on his neck & goes after him, tracks him down, they both go on a trip to San Francisco, & part from there.
Now that Otto has the stone, he rides a Chinese dragon to find Gru & give the stone to him, but the Vicious 6 capture Gru, while Otto takes cover. During the final battle, he frees Gru from being tied up to the hands of a clock. Once he does, he gets captured by Jean-Clawed as a baboon, then saved by Gru so that they may come down from the tower. He is seen during Wild Knuckles' funeral as an angel, & later when Gru attempts to convince Dr. Nefario to work for him.
Despicable Me 4[]
Coming soon...
Other Appearances[]
Otto makes a cameo appearance in the Illumination Entertainment variant for Sing 2, and an Illumination crossover promos to promote the film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Personality[]
Otto is described as chatty, motormouthed, and gets easily distracted. This is shown with his attraction to the Pet Rock which he traded for the Zodiac Stone and how he describes it to Gru. Because of this, he can also be dimwitted. A way to stop him talking is by convincing him to play the “Quiet Game” (Used by boy Gru in Minions: The Rise Of Gru) or by making him count in a game of hide and seek and then ditching him (Used by Kevin, Bob and Stuart in Minions: The Rise Of Gru)
Trivia[]
- He alongside Mel are two Minions that do not appear in Saturday Morning Minions except for Red Pocket (only Otto).
- Despite wearing braces, Otto is fatter than all the plump minions (including Jerry).
- He has a lispy voice unlike all the other minions.
